“nolite te bastardes carborundorum”

This has to be one of my favourite assignments so I thought I’d post it here as well. Over a week or so in December of 2017, I toured a couple of the publicly accessible locations used in Toronto on the Hulu TV series “The Handmaid’s Tale”, based on the novel of the same name by esteemed Canadian writer Margaret Atwood. In case it’s not clear, it’s also one of my favourite programmes on TV right now, with perhaps one of the best and most complex characters (and villains) also on TV right now, Serena Joy Waterford. (Don’t even get me started!) I based each of these shots on the actual screencaps from the broadcast show, and you can see the metamorphosis between the screen version and real life version on Julie Kinnear’s blog here, as well as my review of the first season.

As season 2 has aired quite a few months ago, I’m aiming to get out again and cover some new locations, and hopefully hit up Hamilton and Cambridge as well this time around. Stay tuned.
